Rage Release

Sometimes you don't need to calm down.

Sometimes you need somewhere safe to make some noise.

Rage Release is a 90-minute workshop in York

Created for the anger, frustration, overwhelm and I am absolutely bloody done energy that doesn't always have somewhere to go.

This is not about becoming more positive.

It is not about pretending everything is fine.

And it is not about raging as a performance.

It is about knowing there is something inside you that needs to move.

What happens?

We begin gently, with some light movement and a little space to notice what you're carrying.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you are angry about.

Sometimes anger is obvious.

Sometimes it sits underneath sadness, disappointment, frustration or the feeling that something simply wasn't OK.

So we start with a few questions:

What am I sad about?

What about this situation is making me sad?

What in this situation has crossed a boundary for me?

What about this situation makes me feel angry?

You do not need to force an answer.

The questions are simply there to help you follow the thread and notice what is already there.

Then we make some noise.

For around 30 minutes, you'll have space to move between different ways of physically expressing whatever is there.

Hit tyres with mallets.

Strike enormous steel tubes.

Punch bags.

Drum.

Move.

Make noise.

Take up space.

Or step back for a moment if that is what your body needs.

There is no correct amount of anger required and no prize for hitting anything hardest.

You might arrive furious.

You might arrive frustrated, overwhelmed, tired or simply curious.

You might not have the words for what you are carrying yet.

You are welcome anyway.

Then, importantly, we come back.

After the noise, we move into group drumming, reflection, breathwork and practical nervous-system tools.

Because once something has moved, you might feel alive, buzzing, ready to run a marathon or swim the Channel.

You might also be left with grief, sadness or a tiredness you didn't expect.

This experience is designed to help you through whatever is left once the anger has moved.

And then there will be hot drinks and treats.

Because some things need processing.

Some things need tea.
